Morris's Legacy and Modern Impact
The Kelmscott Press had a major impact on the modern fine press movement in the 20th century and beyond. In the decades following its establishment, many fine presses began in England and the United States. The works of these small presses attempted to embody Morris’s original vision to produce limited edition books of superior quality and beauty while also paying careful attention to the labor conditions and individual dignity of the craftspeople involved. Featured in this exhibit are the Doves Press, Merrymount Press, and Looky Here.
