The titlepage for La Carta del Navegar Pitoresco serves to summarize the contents of the work. Below the title, in a smaller font, is described by whom the text is written by: a Venetian senator, and an expert in painting. As deliniated below, the book is divided in eight "venti," or chapters/parts. The author utilizes the metaphor of an ocean, in which the "venetian boat is guided in the high sea of Painting." Further down, the reader learns the book is a work of Marco Boschini, supplemented by points of the Delfico Academy. The guide was written for De Leopoldo Guglielmo, Archduke of Aulftria. The Roman numeral for year 1660 (MDCLX) is written below a decorative flower plant, to which a seal is adjacent. There is a handwritten signature or marking on the upper left margin, which reads "F.Linchh."
