Cover and Binding
The cover and binding of this book show heavy usage. The front cover is blind stamped with a rectangle design complete with a floral stamp on the upper section of the rectangle. The book is bound in calf, and though the binding has survived, its quality is poor. The leather has chipped from the spine and the floral stamps have faded. There is scotch tape on the inside cover, indicating a failed attempt to reattach the cover. Rycaut’s misspelled name is stamped on the title band on the back-strip, and the word ‘history’ is engraved underneath. The size of the book is quarto, and the pages have been cut to be rectangular.
