Index of Terms
Pictured, is one of the pages in Bryan’s Vocabulary of Terms index at the end of the textbook. Bryan’s primary goal of writing her textbook was to bring clarity to the subject of astronomy. The index is laid out in clear alphabetical order to give an added level of simplicity to a complicated subject. Each scientific term is listed next to a simplified definition that allows any level of reader to understand the terms. Bryan’s desire was to educate those with little or no background in science or math, and the Vocabulary of Terms allowed readers the ease of understanding complex terms. More complicated terms often include a diagram or sketch as a visual reference for increased straightforwardness. The index covers a wide range of terms and includes both mathematical and astronomical terms.
