A picture of the Tuft's chapter of Delta Tau Delta class of 1899.

This book was a gift from Charles Alvin Bean, Tufts class of 1899. The book arrived at Tufts in January of 1947. The second picture is Mr. Bean along with his Delta Tau Delta brothers. Mr. Bean was the president of Delta Tau Delta in 1899, the year he graduated from Tufts with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Mr. Bean lived on Professors Row the following year and was a teacher, most likely at Tufts University. He became a banker in 1901 and worked at the Boston banking house of Merrill, Oldham and Co. and became a member of the firm by 1926. It is unclear how he came to own the book.
