The pages showcase the front cover and restored page
The front cover showcases the newly rebound book. In the past few decades, the book has been rebound and may have been dismantled.

Also shown is the front page showing the title engraving saying it comes in five books and is a description of the circumnavigations of the world

The cover is made of paste-board which is made of plywood and paper are that showcases an attempt at restoration to emulate a cover from the time-frame of the books binding.

Behind the cover page shows where the five bands are pegged and secured. They are glued to the paste board
the restored page shows that there was previous damage which occurred. The damages on the ends of many pages may have been from rodents.
Dark dots are shown in one picture. This could be dropped ashes from a pipe or perhaps dripped candlewax which can be found throughout the book
