The Approach of the Emperor of China to His Tent in Tartary to Receive the British Ambassador by William Alexander
An ink and water color illustration showing the approach of the Qianlong Emperor to the ceremony in which he and Lord Macartney would meet. Made in 1793 by William Alexander, one of the artists employed by the Macartney Embassy.
