                <text>&lt;p&gt;Dans cette œuvre de l’artiste marocain Mahi Binebine, on voit deux portraits, ce qui n’est rien que des contours d’un visage, reposant l’un sur l’autre. On trouve ces portraits sans couleur, sans genre et sans aucune caractéristique distinctive. De cette manière, ces deux personnes existent dans un sens sans identité. Cela évoque le processus de « désidentification » chez le migrant. Le migrant en route à sa destination finale se trouve dans une espace « entre-deux, » dans ce lieu, il ne peut pas avoir d’identité, de visibilité, ou même d’un sentiment d’exister. Ils deviennent les « hommes/femmes-frontières, » quelqu’un au seuil des deux (ou plusieurs) mondes, forcée à nier leur subjectivité. En revanche, si le migrant arrive à leur destination finale—s’il arrive à la frontière—, on continue un autre processus de « désidentification, » ce qui existe dans l’imaginaire du migrant. Dans le processus de migration, quelqu’un est forcé à se couper de lui-même, d’une vie pour s’enterrer dans une autre vie. Séparé par le temps et l’espace, le migrant ne peut pas revenir à sa vie antérieure. D’une autre part, le migrant vit éloigné aussi du pays d’accueil à cause de la mémoire (l’incapacité d’oublier la vie antérieure) et de l’incompréhension le pays d’accueil et le migrant. Donc le migrant est forcé à former une nouvelle vie, une vie diasporique, une vie des « hommes/femmes-frontières » pour toujours.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;La main au centre du tableau pourrait être vu soit en tenant la tête de l’un de ces deux portraits, soit en effleurant le visage de l’autre. Les deux portraits se rapprochent, ils restent même l’un sur l’autre, mais dans cette mise en place de leurs corps, ils ne peuvent pas se voir. Ils regardent en direction de l’autre, mais leurs yeux dépassent la vue de l’autre à cause de leur chevauchement. Il y a donc un mouvement initial de se rapprocher vers l’autre, mais ensuite de se louper ou de se rater. Les deux se manquent, ce qui implique l’acte de se louper aussi bien que de se rater, mais aussi l’acte de méprendre. Donc même si les deux portraits ici sont si proches, même se chevauchant, il reste une incompréhension totale. Leurs visages expriment un sentiment d’impuissance à ce fossé d’incompréhension.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;L’incompréhension totale représentée dans l’œuvre à travers leur emplacement physique se rapporte à la distance énorme sentie chez le migrant au pays d’accueil. Le nouveau pays, le pays d’accueil qui est censé être un remplacement du pays natal, continue à être un « lieu-frontière », une espace de « désidentification » pour toujours. Les yeux vides de ces deux personnes dans cet œuvre incarnent le sentiment du manque. Leurs yeux vides, leurs corps vides, leurs têtes rasées impliquent un sentiment de vide au sein du migrant, ce qui suggère un état précédent de non-vide. Cela suggère une action d’évider, de creuser quelqu’un de leur passé afin de gaver quelqu’un avec une nouvelle vie imposée. D’un autre côté, les yeux vides, les corps vides, les têtes rasées, l’état d’être sans identité, crée une côté anonyme chez ces deux portraits où n’importe quelle personne peut s’identifier à l’un ou l’autre. De plus, la simplicité qu’on trouve dans ces deux contours des visages permet aux deux sujets de devenir une représentation de la nudité humaine complète. Ils deviennent rien que la corporalité de l’homme, une allégorie de toute l’humanité avec toute son histoire, ses conflits, sa tristesse et son espoir. A travers cela, Mahi Binebine crée un œuvre qui représente une histoire de l’homme, une histoire qui semble d’avoir existé depuis toujours. Une histoire de deux personnes qui restent l’un à côté l’autre, mais où il reste une fosse d’incompréhension, un océan d’indifférence.&lt;/p&gt;</text>
